You could say it's an accident that I was ideally suited for the work I am doing. It's the feeling of a bowstring being pulled back for 22 years and suddenly being let go. I am primarily an American, second, a Californian, third, a Los Angeles resident. I've always been attracted to ideas that were about revolt against authority. I like ideas about the breaking away or overthrowing of established order. I am interested in anything about revolt, disorder, chaos--especially activity that seems to have no meaning. It seems to me to be the road toward freedom--external revolt is a way to bring about internal freedom. Rather than starting inside, I start outside--reach the mental through the physical.
I am a Sagittarian--if astrology has anythind to do with it--the Centaur--the Archer--the Hunt--But the main thing is that we are The Doors. We are from the West/The whole thing is like an invitation to the West.

The world we suggest is of a new wild west. A sensuous evil world. Strange and haunting, the path of the sun, you know?
Toward the end. At least for our first album. We're all centered around the end of the zodiac.

James Douglas Morrison was born in 1943 in Melbourne, Florida. Best known for being the lead singer of the rock band The Doors, Jim was also a poet and songwriter, filmmaker and writer. His output were incredible. In the twenty seven years of his life he recorded seven albums of songs, toured and preformed througout. the United states, Europe, Canada and Mexico and produced two award-winning films. Yet the constant thread in his life were writing.
He published four books and by the summer of 1971 he had written 1600 pages of poems, anecdotes, lyrics, stories and outlines for plays and film scripts.

Jim Morrison's career as a rock and roll star may have started on a beach in Venice, but the spiritual Morrison was born on a lonely highway in the desert at a young age. Morrison described the incident in "Peace Frog" (Morrison Hotel); "Indians scattered on Dawn's Highway bleeding, ghosts crowd the young child's fragile egg-shell mind".
"The spirits" of the dead indians often took control of Jim during The Doors' performances and earned him the nickname "The Electric Shaman".

He took control of of his hypnotized audience just as an indian shaman would his patients. Jim also believed that he was living out people's greatest fears and inner-most desires on-stage. The things people did not have time to deal with in everyday life were portrayed by Morrison during the performances. People have said they "saw" the shaman-side of Morrison leave his body during the Miami concert on March 1, 1969. This concert proved to be one of the most controversial in Rock History. Jim Morrison was later convicted of two misdemeanor charges stemming from the concert.
 
As he himself said of poetry:
 
"real poetry dosen?t say anything, it just ticks off the possibilities. opens all doors. you can walk. through any one that suits you.. if my poetry aims to achieve . anything, it?s to deliver people from the limited ways in which. they see and feel."
 
He died in 1971 in Paris, and his grave is in the honoured . Pere-Lachaisse graveyard, among masters such as Honore De Balzac,. Charles Baudelaire and Paul Verlaine..

Можно сказать, что я занялся той работой, которую сейчас делаю, по случайности. Это чувство натянутой двадцать два года тетивы и вдруг отпущенной. Во-первых, я американец, во-вторых, калифорниец, житель Лос-Анжелеса. Меня всегда притягивали идеи, направленные на восстание против авторитетов. Я люблю идеи, вырывающиеся из-под гнёта или свергающие существующий порядок. Мне интересно всё о восстании, беспорядке, хаосе -- особенно деятельность, кажущаяся не имеющей смысла. Мне это кажется дорогой к свободе -- внешний бунт как путь для осуществления внутренней свободы. Даже не изнутри, а снаружи я начинаю -- достигать душевного умственного - через телесное, физическое. Я Стрелец в астрологическом смысле -- Кентавр -- Лучник -- Охотник -- Но самое главное, что мы -- "Двери" (The Doors).
