THE DOORSBox Set |
Box Set The seminal American rock band, The Doors, are readying for release one of the most integral and comprehensive Box sets ever produced. This special project, nearly three years in the making, captures the spirit of innovation that defined the groundbreaking band, preserving that legacy with more than three hours of music. The Box Set will include a sixty page booklet which will contain almost 80 rare and unpublished photos as well as a track by track commentary written by the bandmembers themselves. The members of The Doors, Ray Manzarek, Robby Kreiger and John Densmore are currently putting the finishing touches on the long awaited collection, to be released in the fall of 1997, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the legendary group. Sure to be the crowning jewel of the enduring Doors catalogue, the Box set is being co-produced by The Doors and their long time engineer/producer Bruce Botnick. It will contain 4 CD's, at least 3 of which will include never before heard material from The Doors/Elektra Entertainment Group vaults. The songs included in the Box set were culled from over 40 hours of music, catalogued by recently deceased producer Paul Rothchild. The Box set will also include a special, previously unfinished track, "Orange County Suite," which features a never before heard recording of Jim Morrison on lead vocal accompanying himself on the piano. The remaining members of The Doors are currently recording new music to complete the recently discovered gem, a song that Morrison wrote for his soulmate, Pamela Courson. The expansive Box set will trace the band's entire career, from their first demo recorded in 1965, to their final recorded concert, performed at the Isle of Wight in 1970. Disc
